What is the Matrix?

When The New York Times demads that Hollywood deliver films that are "loud, dumb and obvious"* one might be inclined to ask, with of course the proper deference that one must accord such an esteemed and learned publication, "why?".
--An Introduction from the Wachowski Brothers

The Matrix, and its two sequels, The Matrix Reloaded and the Matrix Revolutions, were written and directed by Andy and Larry Wachowski. Since, they realized, "most action movies are idea-less and conversely, most idea movies remain action-less" they took it upon themselves to create a film that broke out of this convention. A film that would combine high-paced and breathtaking visuals with familiar and thought-provoking questions that would engage conversations beyond what a typical action movie might engage, while still drawing on revered influences. In the end, the result was a film that reflected the brothers' own genealogy of interests, that while to some might seem like a convulted mistake, was to them something that they were pretty damn proud of.

The Animatrix, "a visionary fusion of CG-animation and Japanese anime from the world's most revered anime directors," was produced by the Wachowskis. It was released on DVD and VHS just before The Matrix: Reloaded hit theatres and created a segue into the film, and informed fans better of the history behind The Matrix. It also gave more insight into the matrix universe with these stories, such as the concept of Programs developing human emotions and humans becoming aware of the Matrix through different means. These short films are: Final Flight of the Osiris; The Second Renaissance Part I; The Second Renaissance Part II; Kid's Story; Program; World Record; Beyond; A Detective Story; Matriculated.

What are The Fanlistings?

A fanlisting does exactly what its name suggests. That is, it lists fans of any particular subject. Fanlistings can be created for a wide selection of subjects, not just entertainment related, but also history, fashion, food, technology, sports, and many more miscellaneous topics. Their purpose is to unite fans around the world and to give people the opportunity to proudly display all the things they are a fan of on their website. One fanlisting for each subject can be listed at TheFanlisting.org so that fans can easily find the fanlisting they're looking for, and all fans find the same listing. AnimeFanlisting.org is an extention of TheFanlistings.org specializing in Anime-related subjects. This is the only fanlisting listed at Thefanlistings.org for The Matrix series and The Animatrix, and the only fanlisting listed at AnimeFanlistings for The Animatrix.
